Overview

The Amazon, with the world’s largest rainforest, the mighty Amazon River, wildlife and Indian communities…like no other region, the Amazon captures the imagination. The total area of the immense region is 35% of all of Colombia. The most famous department in the Amazon region is Amazonas (popularly called the Amazon) with capital Leticia, which borders Brazil and Peru. Other departments in Amazonas are Putumayo, Caquetá, Guainía, Vaupés, part of Guaviare. If you do like an adventurous trip, there is much to discover in this region.
