Das Hotel El Prado in Barranquilla<\/strong> <\/a>ist ein historisches Hotel in einem sch\u00f6nen Kolonialgeb\u00e4ude auf einem weitl\u00e4ufigen, umz\u00e4unten Gel\u00e4nde an der Carrera 54 im Viertel El Prado. Das Highlight ist der gro\u00dfe halb-olympische Swimmingpool. Das Hotel El Prado ist eines der ber\u00fchmtesten Hotels von Barranquilla und bei den Einheimischen sehr bekannt. Wegen seiner romantischen Atmosph\u00e4re finden hier oft Veranstaltungen wie Hochzeiten statt. <\/span><\/p>\n

Das Hotel El Prado ist Teil des kolumbianischen Nationalerbes. Das Hotel wurde 1930 er\u00f6ffnet, in der Bl\u00fctezeit von Barranquilla, als die Stadt ein wichtiges internationales Handelszentrum war und als “Goldenes Tor” Kolumbiens bezeichnet wurde. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wir besuchten das Hotel El Prado im September 2023, da wir ein wenig von der Atmosph\u00e4re jener l\u00e4ngst vergangenen Tage sp\u00fcren wollten. Wir spazierten durch die G\u00e4rten und tranken und a\u00dfen an der Poolbar. Neben der Poolbar gibt es eine Pizzeria und das Restaurant la Caba\u00f1a, das traditionelle kolumbianische Gerichte anbietet. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wir haben nicht \u00fcbernachtet, aber wir werden das Hotel bei unserer n\u00e4chsten Reise nach Barranquilla sicherlich in Betracht ziehen. Das Hotel bietet Unterkunft in neoklassischen Zimmern, die sehr komfortabel aussehen und das Hotel und seine G\u00e4rten scheinen ein sehr entspannender Ort zu sein, um ein paar N\u00e4chte zu verbringen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Die Idee, ein Luxushotel f\u00fcr das florierende Barranquilla zu bauen, stammt von dem Amerikaner Karl Parrish, der auch den Bau des Viertels El Prado initiierte, in dem sich das Hotel befindet. Damals war das Hotel El Prado das erste Luxushotel Lateinamerikas mit Privatzimmern mit eigenem Bad und Telefonen. Zahlreiche Ber\u00fchmtheiten wie Greta Garbo, Celia Cruz und der Fu\u00dfballstar Pele wohnten in diesem Hotel. <\/span><\/p>\n

Das Hotel hat eine bewegte Geschichte, denn in den 1980er und 1990er Jahren wurde das Hotel von Drogenbaronen beansprucht, die es zu einer Operationszentrale machten und zur Geldw\u00e4sche nutzten. Infolgedessen blieben die Stammg\u00e4ste weg. Nachdem die Regierung das Hotel wegen der explodierenden Schulden beschlagnahmt hatte, wurde es jahrelang vernachl\u00e4ssigt. <\/span><\/p>\n

Im Jahr 2016 wurde eine Vereinbarung mit der Hotelkette Marriot zum Betrieb des Hotels unterzeichnet. Die Kapitalspritze aus dieser Partnerschaft gab dem Hotel eine neue Chance zu florieren. Die Renovierungsarbeiten begannen und jetzt ist das Hotel El Prado wieder das elegante, ikonische Hotel der 1930er Jahre. <\/span><\/p>\n
