Traditional Colombian food
FOGON CALIDENSE

A traditional Colombian restaurant on a side street off the plaza. This is highly recommended for lunch. Here you eat delicious fish for a good price in a cozy atmosphere. The special lunch menu with fish (Trucha and Mojarra) was served with coleslaw, rice and patacón.
The menu included Sancocho (soup) and Agua panela (lemonade). And all this for only COP24,000/$6 per person. The colorful murals completed the experience for us.
RESTAURANTE JOSÉ FERNANDO

This restaurant is located in a beautiful colonial building in the heart of Filandia, near the church in the central square. At José Fernando you can taste the different flavors of Colombian cuisine and the food is beautifully presented. There are 3 levels, with a cafe on the second floor for a good cup of coffee with a nice cake. There is a rooftop terrace on the second floor.

Here the traditions of the Colombian Pacific are kept alive. In this cuisine, fish and seafood are important. One of the dishes you can try there is ceviche. Furthermore, you can order various drinks with exotic fruits.

If you’re in the mood for food other than traditional Colombian, this restaurant is definitely recommended. A tasty appetizer is the toast with eggplant and caramelized onion.
There are also several vegetarian options such as the smoked hummus with rice with almonds and vegetables. From the restaurant you have a nice view of the valley. Funny detail: this was the only restaurant in Filandia and Salento where we dined, where the staff spoke English. This already tells you that this is one of the most popular restaurants in Filandia among travelers.

This Thai restaurant is located across from restaurant Helena Adentro and is known as one of Filandia’s better restaurants. Besides famous Thai dishes like Pad Thai, you can also get several vegetarian and vegan dishes here.
EL MULADAR ROOFTOP
Calle 6 #7-79.
From this restaurant you can enjoy a panoramic view of the valley. At night, this is an extra romantic experience. Besides Colombian dishes, you can also get pizza and dishes like Pad Thai. This is also recommended for a cocktail with a view. Next to the restaurant is hotel Muladar luxury.

This restaurant with a very nice interior, is a 10-minute drive from Filandia.
There is no set menu, because the chef cooks a daily special menu with fresh products. You can indicate what you don’t like and the chef will take that into account.

MOCAFE

At Mocafe, the coffee beans are roasted in house, for the freshest cup of coffee (and a great smell!). Not a coffee passionista? There’s also chocolate caliente and tea of good quality at Mocafe. Not to mention the delicious cakes and other sweets!
INCÓGNITO CAFÉ COFFEE ROASTERS

Your cup of coffee can be brewed according to different methods of preparation, using various types of filters. The baristas are happy to tell you about the flavors and origins of the different coffee beans. You can also take home a nice souvenir such as mugs and other coffee attributes.
CLAUDIA CAFÉ BAR

If you want to have a cup of coffee in one of Filandia’s most iconic spots, don’t skip Claudia Café bar -on the central square. In this cafe of more than 50 years old, you can drink an excellent cup of coffee, from specially selected coffee beans, which are artisanally roasted.
CAFÉ QUINDÍO

One of our favorites in the Colombian coffee region. Besides Filandia, you can also find Café Quindío in Salento, Armenia, and the Armenia airport, among others. Here you can not only go for a good cup of coffee, you can also buy a delicious cake, Pandebono (Colombian cheese snack) or “energy ball” made from peanuts. And you can buy coffee or nespresso capsules to take home.
CAFE HUMMINGBIRD REAL
Cr 6/Calle Real, 5-95 on the corner, on the second floor
This cafe is located in the hotel of the same name. We took shelter here when it starting raining and ordered a nice “vino caliente”! The cafe is cute, with tables overlooking the square. You can also go there for different kinds of coffee, sundaes, cakes and waffles.
ALLÍ NO MÁS

This restaurant is located in a food court (Giraldo’s Plaza), near the central square. You can have a good and cheap breakfast there with arepas, omelets or pancakes with fresh fruit. This restaurant is extra special because it is run entirely by women.

La Casa de Pandebono

At this bakery in the striking green building, we bought sandwiches in the evening for our breakfast the next day.
Here you can buy fresh croissants, sandwiches, all kinds of sweets, Bonyurt (yogurt) and, of course, Pandebono’s (Colombian cheese sandwiches) until 10 pm. The bakery is located across from Café Quindío.

Fonda Don Asael is a unique place in Filandia, full of ambiente and history. Here locals gather to talk, listen to music -played on long playing records- and dance.
